After traversing jungles, oceans, mountains, winter itself, and the Nether, Minecraft Dungeons is finally heading to The End. The next DLC for Mojang’s Diablo-like Minecraft spin-off takes players into the final dimension this month alongside another free update. They also revealed an Ultimate Edition of the game which will be available on the same day, bundling the game with its six DLCs.
“In the Echoing Void DLC, you’ll face daring new enemies, collect legendary gear, and traverse challenging missions to put an end to the unspeakable threats (emphasis on plural) that lurk within the dark dimension in which reside the Endermen,” Mojang said of the upcoming DLC.
As with previous DLCs, a free update for the base game accompanies the launch of Echoing Void. It will add new hookable enchantments and the new Gauntlet Of Gales, which Mojang calls “a unique maze-like mission that tests your skills through tricky trials and puzzling puzzles.”
There’s not much to know about the Echoing Void just yet, as Mojang doesn’t seem to have released a trailer yet, nor has it posted on the Microsoft Store.
When it comes to Dungeons as a whole, the RPS part is a bit divided. Nate seemed to like it in his review of Minecraft Dungeons, calling it a “well-polished beginner’s ARPG”. In the video review above, Matthew says that it “does a good job of simplifying the action RPG mechanics for a young player, but sacrifices too much Minecraft nuance in the process.”
Mojang says it’s not the end of Dungeons itself and that there’s “lots more to come”, although I will say I’m not entirely sure what will happen after the release of Dungeons. an “Ultimate Edition”. We’ll find out later, it seems.
Minecraft Dungeons: Ultimate Edition, including all six DLCs so far, will launch on July 28. The Echoing Void DLC and free game update also launch on the same day.
