Minecraft: story mode is about to be delisted, so you’d better download every episode right now!
As you may have already heard, Telltale Games is No more. The studio that brought back the narrative adventure game with titles like The Walking Dead and Tales from the Borders went the dodo way due to some pretty horrendous financial mismanagement and a management team that vastly overestimated the size of its target audience.
You can read all the gory details on some of our front cover. Suffice it to say, the business is gone and not coming back.
Which is a problem for almost every game they’ve made. Since Telltale licensed the IP for just about everything, those licenses eventually expire. And when there is no longer a business to renew those licenses, Telltale’s games are removed from digital storefronts.
The weekend beforewe’ve seen Telltale classics like The wolf among us, Strong Bad’s cool game for attractive people, Sam and Maxas good as Tales from the borders, getting pulled from digital store shelves. Now it’s Minecraftit’s the turn.
Telltale worked its narrative magic on Microsoft Minecraft series in Minecraft: story mode, which had two mildly successful seasons. Although Telltale ended them on slight cliffhangers to make room for even more sequels, you can certainly take that hope away and shoot it in the head. Especially considering the statement just released on the official website Minecraft website:
“On behalf of the publisher, Minecraft: story mode – At Telltale Games Series, seasons 1 and 2 will no longer be supported on June 25, 2019. If you have purchased these seasons, please download all remaining episodes before the service is discontinued in June.
If you have never bought Minecraft: story mode, there are many platforms to choose from, including Windows PC, macOS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Android, or iOS. You have until June 25 to download all the Minecraft: story mode you can, because after that he will be gone forever.
